15 month check-up

This morning we took Ella to the doctor for her fifteen month check-up. This Saturday the gymnastics theme was "Patience please, because we have our agenda and they have theirs" - truer words have never been spoken!

Ella wanted nothing to do with the appointment from start to finish. From getting weighed, to her head measured, you would've thought they were torturing her. She happily sat in my lap and talked while we talked to the doctor, but as soon as it was time to actually touch her, she just cried and cried. And she was clinging to me and trying to hide her head in my chest, it was so sad. But of course none of it hurt, she was just afraid for some reason. Luckily there was just one vaccine and she cried, but by that point we didn't expect anything else. Poor little lady :(, we felt so bad for her.

In checkup news, she weighs 20 lbs 12 oz (so she has broken the 20th percentile in weight!) and is 29 1/2 inches long (25th percentile) - and of course her head is holding steady at the 50th percentile. We talked about how she is still not walking and he said that she's still in the "normal" range, but defintely on the tail end of it...and that if she's not walking in a month to call him. He said she's clearly able to walk, but is "electing not to" because she already has such a fast way to get around.

We also askked about her eating which seems to be so picky and irregular but he said to think about it as a 48 hour window and as long as she gets a balanced diet over the 48 hours, don't get too worried about meal-to-meal, so that's good. Steve managed to give her a good serving of peas for dinner tonight, which always feels like a little victory. Overall she got a great bill of health and except for the doctor's office clearly not being "on her agenda", it went fine. I'm glad we've got 3more months though before it's time to go back (if all goes well)!!

Here she is this morning, blissfully ignorant of what lay ahead...

Ella's dancing is always good for a laugh. I also laughed out loud at "Ella vs. The Wind!" Too funny. Glad her doc. appointment went well. I'm sure she'll be walking soon. She's just smarter than other kids because she KNOWS crawling is a more efficient mode of transportation for her right now=)

So she's standing on her own (for pix) but not taking steps? She's just playing with your head.
I love the bow in her hair!
