I asked her what she was doing. "I'm going shopping. By myself! Sound good guys?"
Nomar was playing and kind of running around. Ella says - "Oh Omar, Omar's being silly. I go check him. See what's doing." Ella goes into the laundry room and I hear "Hi Omar, what doing? I close the door, go downstairs." Very proudly - "Mommy! I made Omar go downstairs."
I was making her lunch one night. "You're making pasta for my lunch. What else?"
Eating breakfast one morning, "I need to get down and go pet Cory REALLY NICE (with hand gestures to show just how nice she was going to be). Then, with a finger point, "I not hit Cory EVER (very big eyes) - I am REALLY NICE to Cory." And then she yells to Cory, "Hi Cory. I be nice!"
"I need to stand up and put my shoes on, Mommy says."
Me: How do you feel this morning? Ella: Happy!
Ella was working on stamping a piece of paper with her stamps. I asked if I could see her project and she said "no, you cannot." I said "why won't you show me?". Her reply - "this is MY chore, not your chore."
"Daddy used my stool to hang a picture. I shared!!!"
"Thank you Steve!" (this one really shocked us and seemed to surprise her too!)
"I love my toys. In my house. All my toys!"
Erin: Ella, your hair is getting so long! Ella: And very beautiful.
With Glenn, walking up the stairs. Glenn: "Ella, do you want to come to New Jersey with me?" Ella: "I can't. It's too late!"
"I used my manners!"
On her toy phone. "I call Grammy. Grammy, Hello? Hello?" Annoyed - "Her's not talking!"
We were in a parking lot waiting for Steve. Ella: "I see Daddy!" Me: "That's not Daddy, that's a lady!" Ella: "Ohhh, a neighbor!" (it was not a neighbor)
"I get older, to 3 and a half, and I eat peanuts and drink coffee!"
Playing with her birthday cake toy. "Mommy, wait - don't sing Happy Birthday! I add a candle!"
"Mommy, what happened at work today?"
Completely unsolicited, "I had a good night of sleep."
"Sometimes, the playground gets broke. Can't play on the playground. Daddy fix it tomorrow?
"Daddy, talk with your voices!"
"I see an old lady!" (Said within very easily heard earshot of the not-so-old lady.)
"I drink milk and it makes me really big. And strong. And FAST!"
"I give big kisses to Mommy all day long."
Do it myself.
I do it.
(She's been saying these for a while but says them so frequently I had to add them!)
At the pool last weekend there were 2 older girls that were playing with Ella. One of them said to me (referring to Ella), "I just love playing with babies." Ella's reply - "I love playing with babies too." Ha!
I not need any help.
Baby Morgan just sits back! (explaining what Morgan does in her stroller while Ella and Dominic are going back and forth playing)
Daddy, I kiss you on your face!
Mommy, take my alligator. In your bed. I share with you. (Ella didn't want her alligator in her crib and instead told me I should put it in my bed. Very generous, right?)
Mommy, get happy when you eat your lunch?
Said with a sigh: "I wish I could fix my puppy tomorrow. By myself." (my-se-lf)
"I not spill milk on my shorts. Or my shirt."
"I not hit Cory. Ever."
I'm going to get a book. I'll be right back! (the "be right back" is what I thought was so funny)
Mommy, stop singing. Go make my pasta. (definitely not her nicest phrase but she is definitely very blunt like this!)
wait a minute
wait a second
No, I don't want to.
I need to go to work. I'm working.
I want one more chance, I want one more chance!
You make me happy. Every day!
Steve was going to go up in the attic to get the bassinet so we could bring it to Erin. Ella said "what doing?" and I said "Daddy's getting something for your baby cousin to sleep in when he gets here" - Ella said "Oh, I know - jammies?"
I had fun day wif you. (melt my heart)
When I went to get Ella up from her nap and I asked her how her nap was - she said: "I was crying in my crib, Daddy came and took me out of my crib. He rocked me on the chair and my eyes stopped crying."
We were reading Goodnight Moon: "That Mommy is not Ella's Mommy, that is the bunny's Mommy."
"Cory does NOT wear underwear."
"That would be nice."
"I want to catch a bird in my hand."
"I'm going shopping!"
I wanted Ella to get out of the bathtub - she said to me: "Mommy, not time to get out. It's time to play with toys!"
Dropping Ella off at school this morning, she wanted to be held but my hands were full with the different containers of her lunch so I told her my hands were full and I couldn't pick her up. She said "I know - put down the food, and carry ME." She was so pleased with herself for coming up with the solution, it was so adorable.
We were being silly and I was asking Ella different nicknames like "are you my pumpkin pie?" "are you my blueberry muffin?" "are you my strawberry shortcake?", etc. - Ella's reply: "I'm your BAGEL" - hahaha, it was sooo funny!
7/2/10 - Driving in the car to pick up Kelly
Me: Alright Ellabella, xxxxxx (I can't remember...)
E: Noooo, not Ellabella!
Me: What, you don't like me calling you Ellabella?
E: No, no Ellabella and NO BABY
Me: Ohhh I can't call you baby either? What should I call you?

This morning in the car- E: I kissed Daddy on the computer!! (talking about Skype)
She was being really silly in the bathtub and I asked her what she was doing and she said "oh, I'm just goofing off!"
Last night I put a piece of gum on the console between the front seats and then loaded Ella up in her carseat. She saw the gum and said "It's gum Mommy. Eat gum! Eat gum!" When I got in my seat I put the piece of gum in my mouth and she clapped and cheered and said "Good job Mommy, good job!"
Which reminds me of a time about a month ago when I put a piece of gum in my mouth she said "Is your gum good Mommy? Is it a tasty treat?" The 'tasty treat' was just too funny.
When we were in Charlotte last weekend, I asked her to do something and she said "Nooo, I hang out with Erin and Josh."
The other day she was digging through my make up drawer and I asked her what she was doing and she said - "It's okay Mommy, just checking it out."
After taking her shirt off, she said "I take off my tummy too." And then tried to pull on her tummy. And then says "Ouch, it's stuck!"
"My belly is hungry."
"I burped. In my mouth."
"No, thank you. I'm fine."

4/28/10: Ella now repeats just about every single word we say, so I'm just going to record the really notable stuff, there's no way to keep track of it all!
She frequently puts 4, 5, and even 6 words together to make sentences and have conversations.
"Grammy's house is fun"
The other night when I put her to bed, she was pretty cranky and tired and said, in a relieved way, "It's Ella's nighttime!"

Welcome to Ella Says...!
This is going to be an ongoing post where I update all of Ella's words and things that she says. I'm starting this because she says new things all the time and this is my effort to keep a consolidated list that I can keep adding to. As she gets older I imagine there will be some real treaures on here!
I'm not implying that Ella says these words in a way that would be understandable to other people (although certainly there are a bunch that are very clear), but a word will 'make the list' once Ella repeatedly says the same thing to describe a certain word.
It's crazy that with everything I record and keep track of, I still had to really think to put this together in terms of timeline so I'm excited that I got the idea to keep it all in one place and will be much more accurate moving forward. Use the new button "Ella Says..." to link to this post at any time :)
