Brazos Bend State Park

Ella and I took a day trip with her Daisy troop to Brazos Bend State Park on a Saturday in November. Mom watched Dottie for us which was a huge help since it was the longest I have been away from her, and she is quite the tricky little lady.

It was a really fun day with Ella and I am very glad we got to go on the trip together. The park was beautiful, and we had gorgeous weather and got to see alligators, turtles, beautiful scenery, even a snake!

Such a gorgeous view

And our biggest adventure of the day - this big guy was just a few feet from the trail we were on and we had to get past him

And no park trip is complete without some fun time on the playground

Police Station Tour

Ella's tour of the police station with her Daisy troop was one of the funniest hours of my life. The questions the girls asked, stories they told, and their reactions to everything were priceless. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt, it was just fantastic :)

Daisy Picnic

Ella's Daisy Troop had an end-of-year picnic last Tuesday. They will take a break from meetings over the summer so it was a little celebration for ending the year and they released lady bugs into the gardens at a local park to mark the end of their Garden Journey.

Ella and Steve had bought some ladybugs for our garden a few weeks ago so Ella was the resident expert in her troop on the ladybugs, what they eat, and how to release them!

Fun time releasing the ladybugs

We had a picnic dinner and then a little ceremony where she earned several new patches

With her wonderful troop leaders, Miss Melanie and Miss Melissa!

Recycling Center Tour

We went on a tour of the Pearland Recycling Center last Saturday with Ella's daisy troop. It was pretty interesting, nothing at all like I was expecting, and we both ended up learned a lot.

Out of all the different areas we saw, Ella's favorite part was the giant paper shredder. It could shred an entire phone book in a second and into about a square inch worth of paper strips.

Throwing in a phone book

I love Ella's face while she was watching it work!

Definitely not our average Saturday afternoon, but pretty neat learning experience to see how the recycling center works!
